1. suffix forming the plural of nouns from Latin in -us or from Italian in -e or -o (foci; dilettanti; timpani). Usage Plural in -s or -es is often also possible. 2. suffix forming adjectives from names of countries or regions in the Near or Middle East (Israeli; Pakistani).
